Xiaomi has tested its humanoid robots in a car factory in China, where they spent more than eight hours sorting car parts.
The robots were assigned to pick up center-console side covers, the interior panels around a car's central control area, and place them in the correct positions on storage racks.
According to Xiaomi, the test lasted 8 hours and 5 minutes, making it the first time its humanoid robots completed an eight-hour factory work session.
The robots stopped twice to recharge their batteries, first after 3 hours and 2 minutes, and again after 6 hours and 3 minutes.
During the test, one robot dropped a part, which was picked up by a separate wheeled robot.
Xiaomi says the test shows how humanoid robots could eventually help with jobs on car production lines. However, the company has not shared how many parts the robots sorted or how much human assistance they needed.
