Chinese Flying Cars Can Fly for 20 Minutes, Far Longer Than Tesla’s Roadster
Wang Tan, co-founder of Xpeng-affiliated Aridge, says Chinese flying cars are more practical for commercial use than Tesla’s flying Roadster. He argues that Tesla’s jet-like design can only remain airborne for a few seconds.
Unlike Tesla’s Roadster, Xpeng uses multiple electric rotors and high-density batteries to keep its aircraft flying for around 20 minutes. This design also supports hovering and offers more practical applications.
Xpeng’s Land Aircraft Carrier combines a flying aircraft with an off-road vehicle that serves as its ground transport and charging unit. The company sees potential applications in tourism, emergency rescue and offshore industrial maintenance.
The aircraft is priced at around $300,000 and has reportedly received more than 7,000 orders worldwide. However, Xpeng is still awaiting safety certification from China’s aviation regulator before full commercial deployment.
