The US has launched a crackdown on Kenyan nationals accused of using stolen American identities to get student loans worth about KSh 97 million.

The White House said the suspects used the stolen identities to get federal student aid, then used the money for themselves and also sent some to people overseas.

The crackdown has been named “Operation Ghostbusters,” with the White House saying the US government is targeting people involved in the fraud as investigations continue. #Trump

US President Donald Trump has said Somali-born congresswoman Ilhan Omar could face prison as well as deportation as federal authorities investigate alleged false statements in her immigration records. Speaking at an Oval Office event announcing rewards for reporting fraud, Trump said, "She could also go to jail,” adding that this was his opinion. Omar is a Democratic lawmaker representing Minnesota and a frequent critic of the president. Federal agents searched her Washington home earlier this month, and investigators are examining whether her age was misrepresented when she gained citizenship through her father in 2000. She arrived in the United States as a Somali refugee in 1995. Omar denies wrongdoing and says the investigation is part of a campaign of political intimidation against her. Her lawyers have challenged the search and demanded the return of seized property. A previous review of her immigration records during Trump’s first administration found no evidence of wrongdoing, according to The Washington Post. #Trump

BREAKING: President Trump is asking U.S. Ambassador to Greece Kimberly Guilfoyle to resign following allegations involving a $100,000 credit card bill and luxury travel funded by Greek businessmen.

The move comes just one day after Trump publicly expressed frustration with Guilfoyle, telling reporters, "We're not happy."

According to The Wall Street Journal, Guilfoyle allegedly offered to use her connections inside the Trump administration to help secure payment of her personal credit card bill. She also reportedly boasted about luxury travel paid for by two Greek tycoons.

The State Department's inspector general is looking into the allegations. Guilfoyle's attorneys deny wrongdoing. #Trump

Donald Trump has voiced concern that his 20-year-old son Barron is facing threats from Iran simply because he is the president’s son. Iranian state media recently aired a video highlighting locations linked to Barron and referencing a multimillion-dollar reward, prompting the U.S. Secret Service to confirm it is aware and investigating any perceived threats.
Iran has pushed back sharply, pointing to the death of Zahra Mohammadi Golpayegani, the 14-month-old granddaughter of the late Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei. She was killed in the February strikes that also claimed Khamenei and other family members, strikes Iran attributes to actions involving the United States under Trump. Officials have framed the targeting of Iranian leaders’ families as the real outrage while dismissing some reports of active plots against Barron as fabricated or exaggerated.
Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has taken a firm line amid the broader conflict, stressing Iran’s readiness for both diplomacy and continued confrontation while rejecting pressure tactics. The exchange underscores how the ongoing war has pulled the families of both sides into the rhetoric of retaliation and grief. #Trump #Iran

Trump Calls Canadians Nasty While Calling Putin A Friend
In a recent exchange, President Trump said the United States wants peaceful and positive relations with Russia and declared that Putin is his friend. When a reporter noted that Russia is not a traditional American ally and pointed out Canada’s decades of standing alongside the United States, Trump replied that Canadians are nasty people. Pressed further on whether that means Russians are good people while Canadians are nasty, he answered yes and moved on.
This fits a pattern of Trump repeatedly describing Canada and its leadership as nasty while pursuing warmer ties with Moscow. He has praised personal relations with Putin, defended him on past issues, and recently advanced energy deals involving Russia. At the same time, longstanding North American partnerships face sharp public criticism from the White House.
The contrast has fueled strong reactions among Canadians and observers of U.S. foreign policy, highlighting tensions with a close neighbor alongside outreach to Russia. #Trump #USA #Canada

President Donald Trump is once again taking a tough stance toward Canada, saying negotiations with Ottawa have been difficult and that the United States is not satisfied with the current situation.
Trump said Canada would like to make a deal, but Washington remains unhappy with the terms and approach being offered.
The language is drawing attention because Trump’s negotiating style often sounds less like a traditional diplomatic discussion and more like a high-pressure ultimatum — creating the impression that the other side has very little time to respond.
For Canada, the message is clear: reaching an agreement with the Trump administration may require major concessions, patience and careful negotiation.
The latest comments are likely to keep pressure on Canadian leaders as both countries navigate trade, tariffs and their broader economic relationship.

"I could have done very bad things to Hillary Clinton... Joe Biden... Barack Hussein Obama. I thought it was inappropriate to do so because you have to treat the office of the presidency with respect."

President Trump says he held back from taking “very bad” actions against Hillary Clinton, Joe Biden and Barack Obama because he believed the presidency demanded restraint.

Trump then points to his two impeachments, saying they changed his view of what he could do to political opponents. #Trump #USA

President Donald Trump says more than 4,500 US soldiers were killed and 31,000 wounded during more than two decades of US military involvement in Iraq, which began with the 2003 invasion.

His comments came as the last US forces withdrew from Iraq, ending Operation Inherent Resolve, the US-led campaign against ISIS (ISIL) launched in 2014.

President Donald Trump has launched another sharp attack on Canada, accusing the country of being one of the most difficult nations for the United States to deal with.

Trump said that while Washington can get along with countries such as China, relations with Canada have been particularly challenging. He also criticized what he described as Canada’s sense of entitlement, while emphasizing that Canada is a separate country and “not a state.”

His latest remarks come amid continued tensions between Washington and Ottawa over trade, tariffs and the future of the U.S.-Canada economic relationship.

Trump’s comments are adding fresh pressure to an already tense relationship between the two neighboring countries, with trade disputes and political disagreements continuing to dominate headlines.

Donald Trump doesn't usually meet foreign leaders at the airport. On Wednesday, he did for Xi Jinping.

The Chinese president landed at Joint Base Andrews outside Washington and was met on the tarmac by Trump and First Lady Melania Trump, complete with a red carpet, an honour guard and a flyover by two B-1 bombers. It's the first time Trump has welcomed any leader this way during a state visit, and Xi's first trip to Washington in more than a decade.

So why the extra effort? Reporting from Reuters, the BBC and others points to what Washington wants out of this visit:

▪ A trade win. Minutes after Xi landed, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent announced the US–China tariff truce (the "Busan Agreement", due to expire on 10 November) is being extended to 10 January. He said the US hopes to negotiate a broader economic package by then, while admitting some Chinese commitments have "not been perfect".

▪ Rare earths. Reuters reports that more Chinese rare-earth export licences and bigger Chinese purchases of US goods are among Washington's key objectives.

▪ Stability. The visit comes as both sides navigate the Iran war, Ukraine, AI and Taiwan. Analysts quoted by Reuters and CNN say both leaders want to show the relationship is steady, even if few major breakthroughs are expected.

Trump has called Xi a "great leader" and a friend. Thursday's White House arrival ceremony featured military bands, fighter-jet flyovers and nearly 500 service members, followed by Oval Office talks and a state dinner only the second Trump has hosted this term. Some Republicans have questioned the optics of such a warm welcome just six weeks before the midterm elections.

Is Trump's red-carpet treatment of Xi smart dealmaking, or is he giving Beijing too much? Tell us what you think below.
