Nigeria's opposition political party, the African Action Congress (AAC), has sued President Bola Tinubu over his alleged failure to temporarily transfer power to Vice-President Kashim Shettima during his extended stay in Europe. Tinubu left Nigeria on August 30 for what the presidency described as a working vacation. The AAC argues that his prolonged absence without formally handing over presidential duties violates Nigeria's Constitution. Under Section 145, the president is required to notify parliament in writing when proceeding on vacation for more than three weeks, allowing the vice-president to serve as acting president. The party is also challenging parliament's failure to intervene after Tinubu's absence exceeded 21 days. The presidency maintains that Tinubu has continued to oversee government affairs while abroad. The court has yet to rule on the case. #Nigeria
