Mountain lions are about to get a $114 million bridge over one of America’s busiest freeways.
The Wallis Annenberg Wildlife Crossing, the largest in the world, officially opens December 2 in Agoura Hills, California.
It stretches across all 10 lanes of the 101 at Liberty Canyon. Nearly an acre of native plants sitting right on top of rush-hour traffic.
For decades that freeway has sliced the Santa Monica Mountains apart, trapping LA’s cougars on either side and turning every crossing attempt into a gamble. Bobcats, coyotes, deer and foxes stand to benefit too.
Construction started in 2022. Delays and cost overruns pushed it back at least a year.
Now the animals finally get their own lane.
