What if Ruto called Uhuru and told him that he wanted to set up a "Vision 2060" steering committee and wanted him to chair it?

After all, you can't appoint someone during a press conference without informing them beforehand—especially someone of Uhuru's stature.

Being the statesman that he is, Uhuru could hardly say no to a request that appears to serve the national interest.

However, knowing Ruto very well, he would be inclined to question whether the initiative was truly about national interests because, with Ruto, it is always about personal interests.

So Uhuru picks up the phone, calls Riggy G, and gives him all the details.

Riggy G pre-empts everything, and this is where the game of chess begins.

If Ruto goes ahead and makes the pronouncement exactly as planned, he reinforces Riggy G's claim that he has moles everywhere in government.

So what does Ruto do?

He changes "Vision 2060" to "Beyond 2030" and does not mention Uhuru's name during the press conference.

Uhuru saves his name from being dragged into the controversy, and Riggy G scores a few points.

Ruto is totally cornered.

A part from the few people eating the crumbs that fall off Ruto’s table, there is a consensus among an overwhelming majority of Kenyans that Ruto is #WanTam.

Because of his greed, Ruto has managed to awaken the Kenyan middle class that in the past, never saw the need to vote.

Ruto hasn’t just made the hustlers more poorer, the guy has raided the payslip of the middle class, squeezing them in their pocketbooks, to an extent never seen before.

Everywhere across the country, you will hear those with payslips saying how these days they are just working to create money for Ruto.

The sad part is that the money Ruto and his administration are forcefully extracting from Kenyans, is not used to benefit the people.

A majority of it is stolen and stashed abroad as UDA leaders compete on who can steal the most of our taxes.

Kenyans everywhere are shouting #WanTam.

This is Nairobi and not Ol Kalou people shouting #wantam. Nairobi has around 2.5m registered voters. Exactly where will President Ruto get votes to secure his second term. Anyone who is on payslip will not vote for him because of all the deductions. Business people are also angry because of increase in taxes. It will be very hard for him to secure a second term. #Elections2027

Whenever someone says that Ruto is the most strategic politician in Kenya, I normally laugh very hard because I the truth is far from that.

He is simply a liar with a smooth tongue, and many people mistake that for being strategic.

If you don't believe me, take the Ol Kalou by-election as a case in point.

When Ruto was authorizing the train, boats, mattresses, gas cylinders, overnight road construction, and, of course, the KSh 1.5 billion in handouts aimed at winning support, I don't think he fully considered the long-term consequences.

He failed to anticipate the ripple effects of such actions. That kind of vision is called myopic. Its only found in FISH.

Fast forward to today.

In Trans Nzoia, a boda boda empowerment program organized by UDA went south very quickly when attendees began demanding that they be accorded the same treatment as the people of Ol Kalou. They also started asking for gas cylinders and other benefits.

This will be the trend going forward. Kasongo has mobilized the ground against himself.

So, if you still believe that Ruto is a political chess master, then we clearly have very different definitions of chess.

Some leaders if not careful will be like Francis Nyamu Kagwima. Kagwima was Moi pointman in east who was used to divide the mountain votes for his advantage. This thing of dividing the mountain did not come today. He was Tharaka MP from 1988-1997, then from 2002-2007. Moi appointed him the assistant minister of IT immediately after the 1992 elections and made him his Mt Kenya east pointman with instructions to make sure that Mt Kenya is divided into east and west. He surely fallen to the trap and went against the wave. In 1997, he was swept away by the Mt Kenya wave and Cecilio Murango Mwenda was elected as the new Tharaka MP. Let no one cheat you.
