HPV has no cure. A Mexican scientist didn’t take that as the final word.
Eva Ramón Gallegos, a researcher at Mexico’s National Polytechnic Institute (IPN), completely eliminated the Human Papilloma Virus in controlled clinical studies. In women who had the virus without lesions, it was gone in 100% of cases.
Her method is photodynamic therapy. A drug applied to the cervix builds up in damaged cells, then a special laser destroys them. There’s no surgery involved.
It took her 20 years. She treated 420 patients in Oaxaca and Veracruz, then 29 more in Mexico City.
That’s how Latin American science ended up at the center of the world’s medical debate.
