Gachagua Welcomes Kamukunji MP Yusuf Hassan to DCP
Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has welcomed Kamukunji Member of Parliament Yusuf Hassan Abdi to the Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP), in another significant political realignment ahead of the 2027 General Election.
Yusuf Hassan, who has represented Kamukunji in Parliament since 2011, formally joined the DCP on Tuesday, August 25, after leaving the Jubilee Party. He becomes one of the latest sitting Nairobi MPs to align themselves with Gachagua's political movement.
Gachagua described Hassan's arrival as an important addition to the party as it seeks to expand its support base in Nairobi and across the country ahead of the 2027 polls.
Hassan, a veteran politician and four-term Kamukunji MP, has also expressed support for Gachagua's 2027 presidential ambitions, saying he had joined DCP because he believes the party represents a desire for change among Kenyans.
The move gives Gachagua's DCP a stronger foothold in Nairobi's politically strategic Kamukunji constituency, while further highlighting the continuing realignment of political parties ahead of the 2027 elections. #Gachagua #Elections2027
