Former Murang'a Governor Mwangi wa Iria has been remanded at the Industrial Area Prison after failing to instantly raise a Ksh10 million cash bail. He pleaded not guilty at the Milimani Anti-Corruption Court over an amended Ksh351 million graft and money laundering case.
The Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) amended the charge sheet to accuse Wa Iria, his wife, and five others of irregularly awarding media-buying tenders worth Ksh351 million to Top Image Media Consultants Limited during his tenure.
The fresh charges allege that millions of shillings from the county were channeled into personal properties, including land purchases in Umoja, Nairobi. #Muranga
