𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝗡𝗮𝗶𝗿𝗼𝗯𝗶 𝗠𝗲𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗼𝗹𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗻 𝗣𝗼𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗾𝘂𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗕𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗻 𝗶𝗻 𝗔𝘂𝗴𝘂𝘀𝘁

Construction of the Nairobi Metropolitan Police Unit headquarters will begin in August at Kamukunji Police Station, the Ministry of Interior has announced. The station will be redeveloped into a modern security complex housing operational offices, police accommodation, and the Integrated Command and Communication Centre (IC4) for real-time surveillance and coordination across Nairobi.

The ministry said Kamukunji was chosen because of its strategic location in one of the city's busiest commercial areas. Internal Security Secretary Thomas Sakah led a multi-agency team to assess the site ahead of construction.

The project forms part of the Nairobi Metropolitan Policing Framework, whose design draws on policing models from New York, London and Japan. President William Ruto said the new unit will adopt a community-led policing approach involving residents, security agencies and county officials.
