UGANDA President Yoweri Museveni has said he hopes to live another 18 years until he turns 100 and plans to devote that time to pushing for African integration.

In a birthday message posted on X, the 82-year-old leader thanked the 8 million people who wished him well and said God’s blessings would help him and First Lady Janet Museveni reach 100 and 96 respectively.

He then made a clear appeal to the continent:

“In those remaining years, I appeal to the Africans, if they want to avoid future calamity, to work on the 3 historical missions not yet attained.”

Those missions, according to Museveni, are:
- Prosperity through an integrated African common market
- Strategic security through political integration (including the East African Federation)
- Brotherhood among Africa’s four major linguistic groups

Museveni, who has led Uganda since 1986, has long championed Pan-Africanism. He insists only unity can deliver lasting prosperity and security for Africa’s 1.5 billion people. #Uganda
