A young Somali man named Ismail Hassan was reportedly killed in a village in the Kibwezi area of Kenya.

According to reports circulating about the incident, Ismail was working as a motorcycle rider and had carried another man as a passenger. The passenger was reportedly from a different Kenyan ethnic community. It is alleged that after the journey, the same passenger shot and killed Ismail.

This is a deeply disturbing and heartbreaking incident. Every Kenyan has the right to life, safety, and equal protection under the law, regardless of their ethnic background, religion, or where they come from.

There have been growing concerns about incidents of violence and killings involving Somali people in different parts of Kenya, particularly those living and working in rural areas and remote villages. Whether such incidents are motivated by criminal disputes, personal conflicts, discrimination, or other factors, they must be investigated thoroughly and impartially.

We call upon the National Police Service and other relevant authorities to investigate the circumstances surrounding Ismail Hassan’s death, identify those responsible, and ensure that justice is served in accordance with the law.

The Somali community deserves safety and protection like every other community in Kenya. At the same time, we urge everyone to avoid spreading unverified information or blaming an entire ethnic community for the actions of an individual. Justice should be based on facts, evidence, and the rule of law.
