The Senate Public Accounts Committee has directed Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja to arrest and present Isiolo Governor Abdi Guyo before the committee within 10 days after he failed to honour a summons to appear on Monday.
The committee, chaired by Homa Bay Senator Moses Kajwang, issued the directive after Governor Guyo failed to attend the scheduled session despite being required to appear at 2 p.m. to respond to matters under review.
Guyo had earlier written to the committee on July 16 seeking to postpone his appearance, citing prior official county engagements that had been confirmed before he received the Senate invitation.
However, the committee rejected the explanation and ordered the Inspector General to ensure the governor is produced before the Senate within the stipulated period.
The directive escalates the standoff between the Senate and the Isiolo County leadership, underscoring Parliament's push to enforce accountability and compel attendance by public officials summoned to answer oversight queries.
