REVEALED: President William Ruto has reportedly been sending emissaries to retired President Uhuru Muigai Kenyatta in an effort to mend their relationship following the Ol Kalou by-election.
According to sources familiar with the matter, the outreach is being driven by growing concern within the President's camp over the rising political influence of former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua across the Mt. Kenya region. The sources claim that State House fears the shifting political landscape could significantly impact President Ruto's support base in the region ahead of the 2027 General Election.
The same sources further allege that former President Uhuru Kenyatta has shown little interest in the reconciliation efforts. They claim he remains dissatisfied with the current administration and continues to stand by the position he took before the 2022 General Election, when he publicly urged Kenyans not to support William Ruto's presidential bid.
According to the sources, Uhuru also remains aggrieved by what he perceives as the treatment directed at him and members of his family after he left office, despite his status as a former Head of State. The sources say these grievances have made any reconciliation efforts increasingly difficult. #Elections2027 #Nairobi
