Kenya's forex reserves jumped by US$1.54 billion this week to a record US$15.4 billion, the highest level ever.

The increase was largely driven by proceeds from the government's partial sale of its Safaricom stake.

The higher reserves are expected to support the Kenyan shilling, which is trading at around Sh129.5 against the US dollar.
