Kenya's government borrowed a total of Sh246 billion in June 2026 alone.
This included Sh118 billion from domestic lenders and Sh128 billion from external sources.
MPs have raised concerns after HELB spent Sh630 million on operations in the 2025/26 financial year, including Sh602 million on staff.
The concerns come as the agency faces a Sh29.3 billion student funding gap #HELB
