A Ugandan military officer's unusual uniform has sparked mixed reactions on social media.

In a viral clip seen by TNX Africa, the officer is seen wearing a brown military uniform, a camouflage helmet fitted with a torch, a bulletproof vest, boots and gloves.

He was also carrying an AK-47 rifle, ammunition, a hammer, a measuring tape, pliers and several screwdrivers, drawing widespread attention for the unusual mix of military and hardware equipment as he walked along a public street.

" They want to release quarter of our money, how can we have Quarter arrears?"- Universities Academic Staff Union (UASU) has issued a nationwide strike threat following a press conference in Nairobi.

The union is protesting severe delays in the 2025–2029 CBA negotiations and a controversial new PSC directive reducing the retirement age for professors from 74 to 70.

UASU warns the retirement policy could wipe out up to 70% of the University of Nairobi's academic staff within five years, causing an institutional collapse. Alongside KUSU, the union demands immediate, full payment of all pending 2017–2025 CBA arrears and an end to part-time lecturer hiring.

Public universities face an imminent nationwide learning paralysis if the government fails to address these grievances.

Wild animals are dying in our national parks due to cyanide poisoning. It started with Elephants, it's now affecting other animals. Sodium cyanide is used to extract gold during mining, and reports indicate that water sources in Amboseli have been contaminated.

Illegal mining is happening in our National parks. Kenyans need to raise their voices. Our wildlife must not be sacrificed to protect the interests of cartels.

"The day we stop insulting one another, stop blaming the government for every problem, and begin taking responsibility for our own communities by keeping our cities clean, protecting public property, supporting better service delivery, ending wasteful public spending, and rejecting entitlementβ€”is the day Kenya will truly begin to prosper.

Until then, no opposition leader or presidential candidate will magically solve our problems. Kenya's greatest challenge is not just leadership; it is also our collective attitude, accountability, and willingness to play our part in nation-building."

Musician Kelvin Bahati recently issued a strong warning of legal action after a viral video originating from Pastor Ezekiel's church falsely accused him of leading a cult, harvesting organs, and murdering young girls across multiple counties. Bahati dismissed the allegations as completely fake, defamatory, and concocted for online clout.
