A private technology firm is at the centre of a legal battle over deductions applied to payments made by the Social Health Authority (SHA) to hospitals for treating patients under the state-owned insurance scheme.

Documents filed in court by three petitioners, including Busia Senator Okiya Omtatah, allege that Finsprint Limited has received Sh1.2 billion deducted through a two per cent levy from SHA claims paid up to July 1.

The company deducts a 2% fee from every payment made to hospitals before the money is sent, a practice now facing a court challenge. #technology

This is Caspal (Casper) Ojwang' Obiero, a co-convict in the murder of Rongo University student Sharon Otieno between 3 and 4 of September, 2018.
The same month, he was arrested and charged alongside former Migori Governor Okoth Obado and Michael Oyamo over the murder of Sharon Otieno.
As investigations unfolded, he also faced corruption-related cases, leading to the freezing of a significant portion of his assets and the loss of much of his wealth.
Then, on April 3, 2024, tragedy struck his family when his wife, Trizza Obiero, and his mother, Patricia Atieno Obiero, were both killed in a road accident.
And now on July 23, 2026, the court found him guilty in the Sharon Otieno murder case.
Perhaps the most heartbreaking part of this story is the fate of his children. In just a few years, they have endured the loss of their mother and grandmother, and now face the reality of their father being convicted and imprisoned.
Such burdens in life are heavier for children, having to lose the pillars of their family in such devastating succession.

Former Migori Governor Okoth Obado and his two co-accused, Michael Juma Oyamo and Caspal Obiero, have been found guilty of the murder of Rongo University student Sharon Otieno.
Lady Justice Cecilia Githua ruled that the prosecution had proved its case against the three accused persons over the killing of Sharon, whose body was discovered in September 2018 after she was abducted alongside journalist Barrack Oduor in Homa Bay County.
The court found Obado was a collaborator in the murder, while Oyamo and Obiero were linked to roles in the execution of the plot.
